TO PROSPECTIVE SUBSTITUTES:
The Board of Education appreciates your interest in serving as a substitute in the Cecil County Public Schools. As a substitute, you will be replacing a permanent employee on a daily, on-call basis.
To become any type of substitute with CCPS:
- You must be at least 18 years of age
- To substitute in a high school, you must be at least 21 years of age
- You must have a high school diploma or GED
- You must pass a criminal background investigation
Substitute Opportunities, Qualifications and Procedures to Follow:

Fingerprinting:
- Fingerprinting is done at our Carver Center location; 201 Booth Street, Elkton MD 21921
- The cost of fingerprinting is $45; acceptable payments include check or money order
- This cost is reimbursable to any substitute who works a total of 15 assignments within one year from the date fingerprinted when you submit your reimbursement form
- Pictures will be taken that day for an employee identification badge that must be worn to all substitute assignments.

You MUST be registered and fingerprinted prior to attending an orientation class. We will not accept walk-ins; you will be turned away if you are not pre-registered or if you did not show up for your fingerprint appointment.
